Capt. James M. Bonneau Sr. USMC Ret., 88 of Rochester, NH Passed away January 23, 2020 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH.
He was born in Dover, NH on November 8, 1931 to Conrad and Beatrice (Brooks) Bonneau. He married his high school sweetheart Marilyn A. (Morrissette) Bonneau on January 3, 1953 in Dover, NH.
James joined the National Guard in 1949 and upon his graduation from Dover High School in 1951 he became a United States Marine. James was a decorated Marine serving in Korea and multiple tours in Vietnam. Upon his retirement in 1971, He went to work at Northern Heel in Dover. James worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until 1983. James was the President of the Rochester Fellowship Soup Kitchen for 20 years. Jimbo, as he was known to those he enjoyed serving was recognized for his community service by the Rochester Jaycees and enjoyed feeding the people.
James enjoyed bowling, poker, spending time with his wife of 67 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, brother, Albert and 2 great granddaughters, Lauren and Cadence Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Rochester; five children, James Jr. and Diane Bonneau of Strafford, NH, Dr. Samuel and Mrs. Lynnmarie Reid of Dover, NH, Donna and Marty Rossiter of Somersworth, NH, Thomas and Bonnie Bonneau of Rochester, NH and Carrie Rae and Jeffrey Stevens of Farmington, NH; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren with 2 more expected in 2020; four siblings, Conrad, Beatrice, Muriel and Robert; and many nieces and nephews.
No Calling hours will be held. His Memorial Service will be held at the Cremation Society of NH, 172 King Street, Boscawen, NH on February 10, 2020 at 10:00A.M. Followed by Internment with the Military Honors Ceremony at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH at 11:00A.M.
